daily lunch habits for productivity

Recently three different coaching clients set up the same metric in the Coaching Portal — eat lunch every day. All were aiming for better self-care and the Double Win (win at work and succeed in life). And all three have been hitting it out of the park!

I asked one of the clients what had changed due to this daily lunch habit. She said it gave her the opportunity for a mid-day correction — to recognize that half the day was left, and to think about how she was going to spend the next four hours. I love that response!

Though I’m diligent in putting my Daily Big 3 in my Full Focus Planner, I still have occasional days where the morning gets away from me. That’s where my own lunch time review helps me reset.

I take ten minutes over lunch and follow a three-step process:

Remember
  • What happened?
  • What didn’t happen?

I use the right-side planner page to jot some quick thoughts from any meetings or messages that I want to remember.

Record

I use the right-side page of my Planner to record the following:

  • Decisions or Agreements
  • Follow-Up Actions (for me and for others)

At the end of each day or during my Weekly Preview, I add these into my electronic task system where I can add details or assign to others.

Reflect and Reset

I take another look at my Daily Big 3 and ask one simple question:

What needs to happen next?

I then reset my afternoon accordingly.
